A film festival based in Edmonton, Alberta with the intention to highlight the rising filmmaking talent within the Muslim diaspora and advocate for a more inclusive world across different faiths and ethnicities. “Mosquers” is a portmanteau of a mosque - the place of prayer for Muslims - and the Oscars.
Contributed Art Direction, Design, and Brand Strategy.
The branding involved heavy use of a thick, brushed font meant to reflect the quick, hurried decisions of a film director committed to his work, filling in notes supplemented by a highlighter for the important parts.
It’s meant to evoke importance not just for a filmmaker’s work, but for the mission of the festival as well - a highlight reel for talent that need specialized attention. Aspects of importance are mimicked with the highlighter aesthetic throughout the branding.
