DEJA FUTUR
A personal conceptual photography project inspired by a 2019 collection by LoveClosely, a luxury streetwear brand based out of Toronto. The shoot follows two time travelers coming to the present, utterly bored of what they experience. Contributed concept, creative direction, and photography to this editorial.
Deja Futur
The feeling that the future is already here. but, it feels too familiar, and it leaves us unimpressed. Deja Futur means we treat advancements in technology with apathy, feeling as if they don't feel enough of an advancement. It’s viewing the present with an anachronistic lens. It’s diminishing the potential of technology as a showcase for our most superficial ideas and behaviors. It’s channeling our narcissism instead of inspiring our curiosity.
When the future is already here, we run the risk of limiting our understanding of all these devices as a means of entertainment. Why not something more?
